1960 Show at Illinois State Univ.
In the summer of 1960, having graduated from Illinois State Univ., I had my first one man show in the gallery of the Art department at the Univ. I was encouraged by my mentor and friend Nelson Smith, Univ. Photographer and professor, to show my work. I approached the head of the Art department with my idea and was abruptly dismissed. In 1960 photography was not considered an art! I put together my portfolio and returned some time later and after looking at my work he said I could hang the show. The images you see are photos of the original 11x14 darkroom prints taken with a 2 megapixel Sony camera in 2000. When I scan the original 4x5 negatives I will replace these images.
